Debra Bergoffen is a professor of philosophy, emerita, at George Mason University and is the Bishop Hamilton Lecturer in Philosophy at American University. She is the author of The Philosophy of Simone de Beauvoir: Gendered Phenomenologies, Erotic Generosities (1997)and  Contesting the Politics of Genocidal Rape: Affirming the Dignity of the Vulnerable Body (2011).  Her most recent co-edited book is Confronting Global Gender Justice: Women’s Lives, Human Rights (2011). Her recent articles include “Exploiting the Dignity of the Vulnerable Body: Rape as a Weapon of War” (2009), and “Nietzsche and the Enemy: Nietzsche’s New Politics,” in Nietzsche, Power, Politics: Rethinking Nietzsche’s Legacy for Political Thought, ed.
